All APS students participating in the Indian Education Program can receive special recognition which may include: t-shirts, backpacks, zoo passes.

About the Nominations

Who can nominate a student?

All APS employees are encouraged to nominate Native American students.

Important Dates:

January: IED starts accepting nominations
Mid April: Nomination deadline
May: Recognitions are given out.

How does an APS employee nominate a student?

Nominations can be e-mailed to Elizabeth Trujillo at trujillo_eli@aps.edu, faxed to (505) 872-8849, or mailed interoffice to the Indian Education Department.

Recognition Categories

Students can be recognized in the categories of:

Leadership (e.g. Student Council, Senate)
Most Improved
Citizenship
Community Service
The Arts (Band, Music, Fine Arts)
Sports (APS District Athletic Director)
Academics: GPA 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 (Synergy)
ROTC
Perfect Attendance (0 absence)
Good Attendance (1-5 days of excused absence) (Synergy)
Other categories: you or your staff may submit a category that is specific to your school and deserving of student recognition
