Special Recognition
All APS students participating in the Indian Education Program can receive special recognition which may include: t-shirts, backpacks, zoo passes.
About the Nominations
Who can nominate a student?
All APS employees are encouraged to nominate Native American students.
Important Dates:
- January: IED starts accepting nominations
- Mid April: Nomination deadline
- May: Recognitions are given out.
How does an APS employee nominate a student?
Nominations can be e-mailed to Elizabeth Trujillo at trujillo_eli@aps.edu, faxed to (505) 872-8849, or mailed interoffice to the Indian Education Department.
Recognition Categories
Students can be recognized in the categories of:
- Leadership (e.g. Student Council, Senate)
- Most Improved
- Citizenship
- Community Service
- The Arts (Band, Music, Fine Arts)
- Sports (APS District Athletic Director)
- Academics: GPA 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 (Synergy)
- ROTC
- Perfect Attendance (0 absence)
- Good Attendance (1-5 days of excused absence) (Synergy)
- Other categories: you or your staff may submit a category that is specific to your school and deserving of student recognition
