On April 2, 2019, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham signed Senate Bill 270 into law, permanently designating October 30th in New Mexico as “Rudolfo Anaya I Love to Read Day.” This day, inspired by New Mexico’s own world-renowned author and lifelong educator, will encourage children to read and create a foundation for lifelong literacy and career success and will celebrate Mr. Anaya’s great contributions to literature and cultural preservation. As Mr. Anaya says, reading is the most important skill a child will ever learn.
