Google Age-Based Controls

Google services will be tailored for our students based on age.

Google Age-Based Control Changes allow us to:

  • Tailor experiences for our students and set access to some Google services based on age;
  • Enforce a more secure experience for our students; and
  • Align better with the three pillars of safer Learning in Google's Safer Learning with Google for Education model:
    1. secure by default
    2. privacy by design
    3. full transparency with control.

For APS, this means that anyone under 18 will have an age-restricted experience with some Google Services. Some services will not be available at all for users under the age of 18. The biggest instructional impact will likely be in YouTube access and use.

App restrictions for users under 18

Students under the age of 18 will have restrictions in some Google services when they're signed-in to their Google Workspace for Education account.
