 Greenhouse Project Provides Work Experiences for VVHS Students

A team of Volcano Vista teachers encouraged the collaboration of several school groups to design and build a greenhouse that would provide work experiences for students with disabilities and also raise money for continued access into the community. The project was funded by the Spring 2013 Horizon Awards.

Online Application for Horizon Awards Now Available

Teachers and schools have until Sept. 23 to apply for the awards, sponsored by the APS Education Foundation, that provide between $1,500 and $5,000 to projects in literacy, fine arts, middle and high school activities and STEM -- science/technology/engineering/math.

 LearningRx Partnership Focuses on Teacher Appreciation and Support

LearningRx is an educational franchise specializing in brain or cognitive skills training, which is very different from teaching or tutoring. Cognitive skills training strengthens the skills behind how students learn (processing). The business partners with several schools as well as supporting the APS Education Foundation's signature fundraiser, A is for Art. LearningRx will be the Photo booth sponsor at the September 20 event at Hotel Albuquerque, supporting the fine arts in APS and enabling attendees to leave the event with a visual memory of the festivities.
