Student of the Week: Rebeca M. Romero

Twelfth-grader at New Futures High School

What do you like about school? 

Rebeca’s favorite part of school is the extra support she has received over the years at New Futures. She has excelled academically as a teen mom and has made lifelong friends. Rebeca says she is much better prepared for what the future has to offer.

Favorite class? 

Her favorite class has been health, which has taught her common-sense ways to stay healthy, knowledge she is sharing with her family. It has inspired her to pursue a career in medicine.

Activities and hobbies: 

Rebeca’s greatest joy is doing activities with and raising her 4-year-old son. He has been her biggest inspiration for staying in school and earning her high school diploma. She also works, rising up the responsibility ladder to assistant manager. 

Plans for the future: 

After graduating this spring, Rebeca will continue her studies at CNM to reach her goals in nursing.
