Student of the Week: Analeeza Gonzalez
12th Grader at West Mesa High School.
What do you like about school: I like the teachers and kids at WMHS. Anyone who wants a good education can get one here at West Mesa. The NJROTC program is why. I’m the NJROTC battalion commander and the commander of our award-winning unarmed drill team, and I enjoyed winning State Drill Champions last year. I really like my teachers and classes, and I look forward to graduating in May.
What is your favorite class? NJROTC IV is my favorite class. I’ve been in the program for four years. I enjoy the structure and unit activities, and Senior Chief and Major are preparing me for my life after graduation. Their mentorship has had a considerable impact on me.
Activities and hobbies, inside and outside of school: I’ve also participated in other activities here at West Mesa, including Powder Puffs, Homecoming Court, and community service. Outside of school, I work at Albertsons and often babysit my siblings.
Plans for the future: Become a United States Marine! Then see where my future leads me.
