PNM Named Outstanding Corporate Partner for 2024 by APS Education Foundation
Company honored for its extensive contributions to students, teachers over the years.
The APS Education Foundation is proud to recognize PNM as its Outstanding Corporate Partner for 2024 because of its many contributions to the Albuquerque Public Schools district and its students.
PNM has a long history of supporting the communities it serves and partnering with educational institutions like the APS Education Foundation. Those contributions align with its philosophy that investing in education will help develop future talent and contribute to the overall growth and wellbeing of our state.
The partnership extends beyond money. PNM employees have consistently donated their time and attention to student programs.
“It is our honor to announce PNM as our Outstanding Corporate Partner for 2024,” said Shannon Barnhill, Executive Director of the APS Education Foundation. “Not only has its monetary contribution to the APS Education Foundation and Albuquerque Public Schools made a difference, but the time PNM employees devote to the schools has a tremendous impact on our students, staff, and the entire APS community. We are in awe of the gifts of time and treasure that PNM has provided over the years and the positive student outcomes it brings.”
Laurie Roach, PNM Resources Foundation Executive Director and PNM Public Affairs Manager, said PNM is “truly honored” to receive the award from the APS Education Foundation.
“We plan to continue our active support of the invaluable resources they provide for their students,” she said.
Each year, PNM employees volunteer hundreds of hours to give back to the community and support causes they are passionate about. And when they make monetary donations, the PNM Resources Foundation offers matching grants. This enables PNM employees to double their contributions to qualifying New Mexico nonprofits like the APS Education Foundation and other APS programs.
When tragedy struck and a Washington Middle School student was shot and killed in 2021, PNM and the APS Education Foundation worked together to ensure students and staff felt cared for. They partnered to deliver coffee, pizza, stuffed PNM “comfort dogs,” and corporate funding to cover costs for mental health sessions and coaching.
Beyond that, PNM helps teach students how to conserve energy and save on electricity. They do that by visiting schools and presenting to students and by providing information for classrooms.
PNM also leads the annual School Supply Drive, where employees donate much-needed school supplies and funds to teachers, in addition to participating in coat and food drives, judging science fairs, and volunteering at the APS clothing bank.
“As a board member of the APS Education Foundation, I have seen firsthand the impact the Foundation and PNM have made on students,” said Julie Rowey, PNM’s Vice President and Chief Customer Officer. “It’s not just about serving, it’s about helping shape the future for our children, and I’m proud to be a part of that journey.”
