Nusenda, Foundation Team Up for EA Scholarships

The Nusenda Educational Assistant Scholarship was awarded to 14 EAs who want to become teachers.

The Albuquerque Public Schools Education Foundation has partnered with Nusenda to launch the first Nusenda Educational Assistant Scholarship to help EAs who aspire to be teachers. The scholarship helps support students during their student teaching. 

Nusenda was so pleased and inspired by the scholarship applicants, they decided to fund 14 scholarships at $2,500 each. 

The scholarship recipients are:

  • Stacey Barreras, Reginald Chavez Elementary School
  • Jordan Bowling, Monte Vista Elementary School
  • Jennifer Candelaria, Manzano High School
  • Aileen Collins, Arroyo Del Oso Elementary School
  • Annmarie Crespin, George I Sanchez K-8 School
  • Michelle Figueroa, McCollum Elementary School
  • Sonia Gallegos, Alamosa Elementary School
  • Brittany Gauna, Lowell Elementary School
  • Tami Hillman, Chamiza Elementary School
  • Julianna Massa, Lowell Elementary School
  • Alexys Medrano, Hayes Middle School
  • Nhung Nguyen, Helen Cordero Elementary School
  • Amanda Padilla, Alamosa Elementary School
  • Bailiey Wheeler, Zia Elementary School 

Nusenda’s roots are in education. That’s why they work with community partners to ensure that educators are supported, and students get the help they need to succeed.

This scholarship is intended to be offered again next year, opening in December 2021. Check the APS Education Foundation website for more information.
