4th Annual Gold Bar 2020 Postponed Indefinitely

Tuesday, March 31, 2020

Dear Friends of the Albuquerque Public Schools Education Foundation,

We want you to know that we’re thinking of you. Nothing is more important right now than staying healthy and being there for the people we love. Like the rest of the universe, Albuquerque Public Schools is grappling with the hard realities the pandemic has created. All school campuses will remain closed for the remainder of the year, with distance learning launching soon.

There’s a lot of disappointment to go around, including our announcement that  the 4th annual Gold Bar 2020 event that had been scheduled for May 1, 2020 is now postponed indefinitely.

Above all, the cancellation of our event is heartbreaking for our 14 Selfless Seniors, Hall of Honor inductees, Best in Class nominees and corporate sponsors who won’t be celebrated with the fancy dinner, fanfare and fellowship that we’ve all come to expect. The cancellation is also a missed opportunity to highlight all the Foundation’s and district’s achievements, and of course, could set us back in fundraising critical to support hundreds of innovative programs.

Please consider converting your ticket purchases to a full donation. If that’s not possible a refund is an option.   All refunds will be completed by the end of April. Please email with your request.

It’s worth noting that If ever there was a time to remind ourselves that we are not powerless, this is it. Your APS Education Foundation is proudly promoting our honorees through social media, on citywide billboards and in school yearbooks. Perhaps the best news is that you too can help share the stories of these amazing public school stars by visiting our Gold Bar website, re-posting our social media messages and continuing your support for our foundation.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this cancellation may have caused you. Finally, we want to thank our Foundation board of directors, sponsors and the community for generously supporting the Gold Bar 2020. We don’t have to be in the same room to show the world we stand together..
