Community Rises to the Challenge with Pepsi to Raise $10,000 for Schools and Classrooms

Pepsi Beverages Company put forth its annual challenge to the community on April 24th – donate to the APS Education Foundation and Pepsi would match dollar for dollar every contribution that was made up to $5,000.  The goal was to raise $10,000 in just one week to support grant programs in the fall.

Individuals took the opportunity to double their impact, and together with Pepsi, raised over $10,000.  These funds will be disbursed as district, school and classroom grants, providing critical resources for innovative educational initiatives.

Some donors took the opportunity to donate in honor of loved ones.  As families cannot celebrate birthdays, holidays, graduations and special occasions in person, they are finding meaningful ways to find a gift online.

With fundraising event cancellations and economic pressures, the Foundation understands that funding student-based programming developed by our educators is not only a way to improve student outcomes, but is more critical than ever.

“Our community never ceases to amaze us, during this unnerving time where many our trying to make ends meet – we made the goal!  Generosity is the definition of this community. The community went above and beyond.  As we approach the uncertainties of the next school year, this challenge has prepared us to be ready for our educators.  If you missed the challenge, you can still embrace the need,” stated Shannon Barnhill, Executive Director of the APS Education Foundation.
