APS Education Foundation Awards Over $250,000 in Grants

Foundation initially planned to award 30 grants but expanded to 73 due to overwhelming response.

In celebration of its 30th anniversary, the APS Education Foundation has awarded a total of $260,000 in grants to dozens of programs and projects across Albuquerque Public Schools.

Originally planning to award 30 $3,000 mini-grants, the Foundation was overwhelmed by the 165 applications received. Inspired by the proposals, community partners, like TIG, and the Foundation ultimately funded $213,000 in mini-grants to 71 programs, $32,000 for a Guhl Early Literacy grant, and $15,000 for Transformative Idea Grants.

The grants will support a wide range of initiatives, from arts and music programs to STEM education and literacy projects. Schools receiving grants include Albuquerque High School, Atrisco Heritage Academy High, Del Norte High, Manzano High, and many others. Specific projects range from purchasing musical instruments and art supplies to funding field trips, creating outdoor learning spaces and supporting Esports and Mariachi programs.

The APS Education Foundation's mission is to partner with the community to invest in innovative learning opportunities for APS students. Thanks to the generosity of donors, grantors and sponsors, the Foundation was able to support these programs and projects, empowering educators and enhancing student learning.
