Learning and Leadership Professional Development Grant
Educators frequently need outside resources to engage in meaningful professional development due to limited district funding. Learning and Leadership Professional Development grants are intended to provide resources for APS faculty and staff hoping to engage in professional learning that can be implemented in their classrooms, schools and departments.
About the Award
Award Amount is between $2,500 and $25,000. Learning & Leadership grants support the professional development for APS faculty and staff by providing grants to:

Individuals to participate in high-quality professional development like summer institutes, conferences, seminars, or action research.

Groups to fund collegial study, including study groups, lesson plan development, or mentoring experiences for faculty or staff.
Scholarships, tuition, or board certification and will not be considered.
Information for APS Employees
Eligible Applicants
Applicants must be APS teachers, education support professionals*, or specialized instructional support personnel*.
*Education support professionals (ESPs) are defined as: paraeducators, school bus drivers or other transportation staff, custodial and maintenance staff food services staff, school nurses, health aides and other health and student services staff clerical staff, security staff, skilled trades staff, and technical services staff
*Specialized instructional support personnel (SISP) include professionals such as school counselors, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, library media specialists, speech pathologists and others.
Eligible Proposals
Proposals must meet the following criteria:
- Requests must be for APS employees participating in meaningful professional development.
- Requests can be for an individual or a group.
- Requests may cover travel fees, room, meals, registration fees, materials, stipends, and other related costs associated with professional development.
- Grant funds cannot be used to pay for scholarships, tuition, board certification, sponsorships and any indirect costs such as grant administration fees, or salaries.
Selection Process and Criteria:
All grant applications are reviewed by a selection committee of APSEF Board members.
Reporting Requirements
Learning and Leadership Award recipients will be required to provide a detailed report on their grant results to the APS Education Foundation. This report will be shared through the Foundation as a way to measure the overall impact being made district-wide through the APSEF grant programs. Grantees will be ineligible for future awards if this report is not received. Grantees should also be willing to host site visits, provide success stories, and assist the Foundation with promotional activities.
Other Considerations
No other considerations apply to the Learning and Leadership Award.
