Varsity Awards

Varsity Awards are directed by the APS Education Foundation's student board members to address a student-informed need.

Applications for the Varsity Award are by invitation only, based on the interests of the APS Education Foundation's student board members.

Previous Award Winners:

In 2017-18, the Varsity Awards made a $21,314.00 grant to the AVID program for college visits.

In 2018-2019, the Varsity Awards made a $20,000 grant to the APS College and Career Counseling Department to help students prepare for college entrance exams. As a result, the ACT Prep Program was created. Funding enabled APS students to complete a full-length ACT practice test, including a 2-hour review session to go over test results and tips on how to improve scores. The program was a huge success, with 11 out of the 13 traditional high schools participating. To date, nearly 150 students have taken the practice ACT test. In addition, 5 students received a college and career scholarship to assist with college tuition costs.

During the 2019-2020 year, Student Board members will create a College and Career Prep (advisory) video to increase graduation rates and give peer/counselor tips on how to prepare for college and careers.
