Community Partnerships
About Community Partnerships
Albuquerque Public Schools is committed to engaging in collaborative, goal-driven, high-quality, community partnerships that:
- improve students' academic outcomes,
- facilitate students' whole child development, and
- increase equitable access to academic and non-academic support to students/families during the school day and during out of school time to facilitate school and district goals
Partnerships can take place during school hours, before and after school hours at one school, or at multiple schools throughout the district. Programs can be year-round, during the school year, during the summer, or event specific. Programs can be for students, family members, or both.
Program Requirements
In all cases, the school principal has the final authority to approve who can or cannot be on the school campus. Individuals or organizations interested in providing any type of service to students and families must first reach out to the school principal for their permission.
Programs or services that are provided during the school day need to be coordinated directly with the principal and school staff.
For information and/or technical assistance regarding before and after school programs email outofschooltime@aps.edu.
Please note that all staff and volunteers from my organization will have obtained an APS fingerprint background check clearance prior to working with students and/or any APS campuses.
Approved programs interested in reserving space in a school or other APS building can go online to check availability and to fill out a request form. The requests will route electronically through an approval process and updates will be sent by email, reducing the amount of time it takes to process requests. For step-by-step instructions on renting an APS facility online, read How to Rent an APS Facility.
Proof of insurance is also required from programs serving APS students and families.
Here at APS we are always looking for new partnerships! If you are interested in becoming one of our valued partners, please email nestor.costales@aps.edu.
