On December 14th, seven Agriculture & Nutrition student interns from Rio Grande gathered at Dolores Huerta Gateway Park to assemble and light luminarias for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony and holiday celebration. The event marked the grand re-opening of the park, a significant milestone in community revitalization.
The redesign of Dolores Huerta Gateway Park is the result of a collaborative effort between local residents, state governments, and a variety of partners. From community-driven vision and strategic planning to securing funding and overseeing construction, this project is a prime example of a community-led initiative that brought people together to rebuild and strengthen their neighborhoods.
