Remarkable Work Being Done By Students at Rio Grande High School
The Agriculture Internship Program at Rio Grande High School (RGHS) is making a significant impact not only on students of RGHS but on the entire Albuquerque community.
The Agriculture and Nutrition Internship Program at Rio Grande High School (RGHS) is not only benefiting students at RGHS but everyone in the ABQ community. Directed by culinary teacher Janet Delgado, students are actively engaged in their community by participating in the ABQ Downtown Growers' Markets, which aims to promote healthy and affordable food for everyone in New Mexico.
This free event takes place every Saturday from April 13 to November 2, from 8 AM to noon, offering attendees the chance to purchase affordable, locally grown produce and products. Students contribute by promoting the event on social media and assisting with sales, enhancing both their marketing and management skills.
Through this program, students develop essential skills and gain practical knowledge that isn’t typically covered in the classroom. By managing the school’s garden and assisting at Chispas Farms, students acquire valuable hands-on experience in agriculture and community service—skills that will benefit them for a lifetime!
