CTE Funding Empowers IGS Students to Fully Participate in Culinary Course
Career and Technical Education (CTE) funding is making a meaningful impact at LBJ Middle School!
Career and Technical Education (CTE) funding is making a meaningful impact at LBJ Middle School, empowering students in the Intensive Global Support (IGS) program to fully engage in hands-on learning activities.
In a recent lab session, students made homemade ice cream, a project that previously would have been inaccessible to many students in the IGS program. This moment marked a milestone not only in many students’ educational experience but also in the ongoing effort to create inclusive, hands-on learning environments for all APS students.
Vocational educator Gregory Vehar reflected on the significance of CTE funds, stating, “This class has been one of the most challenging of my career. The special education students in this class are a part of the IGS program. In this lab they are making ice cream and were able to fully participate. The student on the blue chair in the video is typically restricted to being in a wagon and is only an observer. Today he got to be a full participant thanks to CTE funding.”
