Registration for the 2025 Electric Vehicle Safety Foundations Certification Program is now open! Gain advanced knowledge in the safety, systems, and testing of hybrid and electric vehicles.

This Electric Vehicle Safety Foundations Series ensures individuals and organizations are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate and succeed in a rapidly growing and evolving industry.

This three-part training series is designed to prepare technicians to safely service and maintain hybrid and electric vehicles. From foundational electrical safety to hands-on experience with ten different vehicle types in our state-of-the-art learning lab, this program delivers critical skills for today’s evolving automotive workforce. This training also qualifies for 100% funding through Training for Your Future Funds.

Self-Paced Learning 

Asynchronous, online modules make it easier to learn at your own pace.

  • Module I: Online - 15 hours 
  • Module II: Online - 20 Hours 
  • Module III: In-Person - 1 Week

Earn a Certificate 

Upon successful completion of all 3 modules, you will receive the Electric Vehicle Safety Foundations Certificate from CNM Ingenuity.

Module I: Electrical Electrical Safety Awareness

Online; $499; No Prerequistie

May 1 - August 8, 2025

This course focuses on the safety related issues involving EV’s. Including different electric vehicle drive systems, high-voltage battery function and design, battery converter systems, and high-voltage battery accessory components. By the end of this class, learners will be able to identify and demonstrate an understanding of:

  • Shop safety
  • Electric vehicle safety
  • Digital voltage ohm meter (DVOM) use for hybrid EVs
  • Description and operation of EV components
  • Scan-tool diagnosis
  • Pinpoint testing procedures

Upon successful completion of the course, learners will receive a voucher to take the ASE xEV Electrical Safety Awareness Certification (Level 1) test.


 

Module II: Technician Electrical Safety

Online; $619; Prerequisite: Module I

May 1- August 8, 2025

Dedicated to the technician that will actively work on and service EVs, hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). This course covers:

  • Personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Depowering different types of EVs
  • Digital voltage ohm meter (DVOM) use for hybrid EVs
  • Function and use of a proving meter
  • Description and operation of EV components
  • Electric vehicle types and descriptions

Upon successful completion of the course, learners will receive a voucher to take the ASE xEV Technician Electrical Safety Certification (Level 2) test.


 

Module III: Hybrid & Electric Vehicle Learning Lab

In-Person; $1679; Prerequisite: Module III

August 11 - 15, 8AM - 4PM

Learn how to service, diagnose, and repair hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), and battery-electric vehicles (BEV). We will demonstrate and use high-voltage personal protective equipment (PPE) during all hands-on exercises. Get your hands on 10 different vehicles used in our learning lab:

  • (3) BEVs: Ford Mustang MACHe and Chevrolet Bolt, Ford Lightning
  • (1) PHEV: 2011 Chevrolet Volt
  • (7) HEVs: Ford F-150 Powerboost, 2 Toyota Prius, Ford Escape, Honda Civic, 2 Ford Fusions
