This Electric Vehicle Safety Foundations Series ensures individuals and organizations are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate and succeed in a rapidly growing and evolving industry.
This three-part training series is designed to prepare technicians to safely service and maintain hybrid and electric vehicles. From foundational electrical safety to hands-on experience with ten different vehicle types in our state-of-the-art learning lab, this program delivers critical skills for today’s evolving automotive workforce. This course focuses on the safety related issues involving EV’s. Including different electric vehicle drive systems, high-voltage battery function and design, battery converter systems, and high-voltage battery accessory components. By the end of this class, learners will be able to identify and demonstrate an understanding of:
- Shop safety
- Electric vehicle safety
- Digital voltage ohm meter (DVOM) use for hybrid EVs
- Description and operation of EV components
- Scan-tool diagnosis
- Pinpoint testing procedures
Upon successful completion of the course, learners will receive a voucher to take the ASE xEV Electrical Safety Awareness Certification (Level 1) test.

May 1- August 8, 2025
Dedicated to the technician that will actively work on and service EVs, hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). This course covers:
- Personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Depowering different types of EVs
- Digital voltage ohm meter (DVOM) use for hybrid EVs
- Function and use of a proving meter
- Description and operation of EV components
- Electric vehicle types and descriptions
Upon successful completion of the course, learners will receive a voucher to take the ASE xEV Technician Electrical Safety Certification (Level 2) test.
In-Person; $1679; Prerequisite: Module III
August 11 - 15, 8AM - 4PM
Learn how to service, diagnose, and repair hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), and battery-electric vehicles (BEV). We will demonstrate and use high-voltage personal protective equipment (PPE) during all hands-on exercises. Get your hands on 10 different vehicles used in our learning lab:
- (3) BEVs: Ford Mustang MACHe and Chevrolet Bolt, Ford Lightning
- (1) PHEV: 2011 Chevrolet Volt
- (7) HEVs: Ford F-150 Powerboost, 2 Toyota Prius, Ford Escape, Honda Civic, 2 Ford Fusions
