Highlands High's Office of African American Affairs (OAAA) X3 Final Exhibition
On December 12, the CCL crew had the privilege of attending the Highlands Office of African American Affairs (OAAA) X3 Final Exhibition, a celebration of local student interns funded through Future Focused Education.
On December 12, the CCL team had the honor of attending the Highlands High School's Office of African American Affairs (OAAA) X3 Internship Final Exhibition, a celebration of local student interns funded by Future Focused Education. The evening showcased inspiring stories from eight talented Highland students who participated in the X3 internship program, designed to provide high school students with valuable work experience while fostering connections within their communities. Each student shared their personal experiences, key takeaways from the internship, and heartfelt stories about their hopes and dreams for the future.
The X3 program pairs students with local employers to develop essential skills such as resume writing, networking, and financial literacy. Interns not only gain real-world experience but also receive a stipend that helps support their families, replacing low-wage jobs with enriching opportunities that build resumes. The program aims to create a stronger workforce by fostering professional connections and offering mentorship to historically underserved students, opening doors to new career paths.
The Office of African American Affairs (OAAA), which focuses on diminishing disparities in health, education, and economics for African American families, continues to serve as an invaluable resource in strengthening the community. Through its leadership and collaborations, the agency works to address issues relevant to the African American community while celebrating its history and legacy.
