The Berna Facio Professional Development Center was buzzing with energy and pride as Career Connected Learning hosted its semi-annual Work-Based Learning Intern Final Exhibition on April 30.

Albuquerque, NM - April 30, 2025 - The Berna Facio Professional Development Center was buzzing with energy and pride as Career Connected Learning hosted its semi-annual Work-Based Learning Intern Final Exhibition. The event, a showcase of Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) students’ hard-earned skills and achievements, marked the end of the spring semester internship program.

High school interns from across APS  came together to present projects and demonstrate what they’ve learned in a wide range of career pathways—from Construction and Automobile Mechanics to STEAM, Music, Health Care, and Legal Services. The exhibition offered students an opportunity not only to share their growth and accomplishments with families, teachers, and local professionals, but also to celebrate their journey toward future careers.

The Work-Based Learning Program is a cornerstone of APS's effort to prepare students for life after graduation. By placing high schoolers in real-world professional environments, the program helps them build both practical experience and confidence in a career field of their choosing. The Final Exhibition serves not only as a celebration but also as a testament to the powerful impact of experiential learning.

A special thank you goes out to all our APS intern mentors and the volunteers who helped make not only the night a success, but the entire semester a meaningful and enriching experience for our students.
