Employers Needed for 2025 Summer Teacher Academy

United Way is searching for local employers to present at the 2025 Five County (Valencia, Bernalillo, Sandoval, Torrance, and Santa Fe) Summer Teacher Academy.

The Why: United Way's ultimate goal is to increase the variability of the local workforce. The more students know about what you as employers need, and the more they know about the skills they should have, the more likely they are to graduate from high school and seek the training or education necessary to fill your hiring needs.

The What: Each employer presents a 60-minute or 120-minute workshop on a skill that is important for new hires to have (communication, math, critical thinking, writing, flexibility—the list is endless). The workshops include a short activity that teachers can take back to the classroom. Available will be a Summer Teacher Academy Project Team whose members are happy to co-present or to coach presenters if that makes it easier.

The intention of the workshop is to make it easier for teachers to show their students how what they teach is used in the work world and why it’s important to employers. If you sign up to present , you will receive a guiding document and will be partnered with a project team member. Please fill out the form if you are interested in presenting at this dynamic event.

  • Employers may come just for their session or for the entire day.

  • Breakfast and lunch will be served.
