Kindergarten through 5th Grade Fun Friday

  • 8 to 9 a.m., Physical Education – Drum Fit, Part II:
    Review drumming patterns and the Ghostbusters routine; aim for a personal best with a “one-minute fast track” activity; do a yoga cool-down.  Suggested materials: Assorted materials for drumming at home such as short pool noodles, wooden spoons, laundry baskets, cushions, etc.
  • 9 to 10 a.m., Art – My Room is a Zoo!:
    Turn your room into a zoo with animals inspired by Amate folk art. Suggested materials: Brown grocery bad, brown or black watercolor paint, white chalk, tempera paint in a variety of colors (or crayons/colored pencils), black permanent marker, How to Draw Animals.
  • 10 to 11 a.m., Musical Adventures – The Animal Fair:
    Sing, play and move with animal songs in English and Spanish; read Tuesday by David Wiesner set to music. Suggested materials: Yarn, percussion instruments (or wooden spoons and buckets).
  • 11 a.m. to noon, Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) for Families:
    Learn strategies to build relationships, cope with stress, and promote resilience at home. Suggested materials: July 3: SEL Resource Folder.
