GB10 District Personnel Reduction in Force

Albuquerque Public Schools reserves the right to initiate a reduction in force of district personnel if it is in the best interest of the district.

Albuquerque Public Schools shall follow all requirements and procedures in any and all negotiated agreements.

Albuquerque Public Schools may consider seniority, affirmative action goals and/or skill set as determining factors when selecting district personnel for reduction in force who are not members of or protected by a negotiated agreement.

The superintendent, when in the best interest of the district, has the right to operate outside of the procedural directive established to implement this policy at his/her discretion.  In such a case, the superintendent shall comply with applicable district policies regarding personnel, including equal employment rights or opportunities.

The superintendent shall consult with and notify the Board of Education before any final decision is made regarding a reduction in force.
