KI1 Recruitment in Schools

Albuquerque Public Schools shall comply with all applicable federal and state statutes, rules and regulations concerning post-secondary recruiters. The district shall comply with a request by a post-secondary recruiter for secondary students’ directory information, unless a parent/legal guardian of the student, or if the student is at least 18 years old, has “opted out” of providing such information. Parents/legal guardians and students who are at least 18 years old shall have the right to deny the release of secondary student directory information to any or all post-secondary recruiters. The district shall not release student directory information to post-secondary recruiters unless specifically required to do so by federal or state statute or regulation.

For purposes of this policy, "post-secondary recruiter" means a person who recruits students to enroll in a school, college or university; to join a branch of the armed services; or to join a business, firm or other employment.

For purposes of this policy, “directory information” means students’ names, addresses, telephone numbers, current grade, and graduation year.
