JR1 - Student Records

A student’s records kept by Albuquerque Public Schools shall be open to review by the student’s parents/legal guardians and/or the student, if the student is 18 or older, and shall be treated as prescribed by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) as amended, state statute and state regulation. If there are apparent conflicts among the various statutes, the provisions of FERPA shall prevail.

Students shall enroll with their full legal name to be displayed on official documents. The transcript is the only official record of high school coursework completion and graduation. Students may request that their names on transcripts be changed to match their legal name by providing a court order showing the name change.

APS retention records vary and APS cannot guarantee availability of all records.
