Important Notice About Upcoming Meetings
Board of Education meetings will be hybrid meetings with community members and public forum speakers having a choice to attend in person at the John Milne Community Board Room or by accessing the meeting link at on the board meeting calendar. Presenters and recognition guests will attend virtually.
Public forum, either virtual or in person, is a part of the Board of Education meetings on the first and third Wednesdays of the month. Regardless if public forum speakers attend in person or virtually, all speakers must sign up for public forum on the APS website the day of the meeting and before the start of the meeting. Please be sure to visit the APS website to check the agenda.
You can participate in the work of the Board of Education by:
- Signing up to speak at a virtual and in-person public forum
- Watching the live stream of upcoming board meetings.
- Emailing input, comments, and questions to board members at boarded@aps.edu, or calling board members at 505-880-3729.
Closed captioning will continue to be provided in English for Board of Education Zoom meetings live-streamed to YouTube.

Albuquerque Public Schools
A Special Board of Education meeting of the Albuquerque Public Schools Board of Education was held Friday, July 27, 2012, beginning at 7:45 a.m. in the DeLayo Martin Community Room, Alice and Bruce King Educational Complex, 6400 Uptown Blvd. NE.
I. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 7:50 a.m.
- A. Roll Call
Present: Analee Maestas. Kathy Korte, Lorenzo Garcia, Martin Esquivel, Paula Maes, David Robbins (by phone)
Absent: David Peercy
B. Adoption of the Special Board of Education Meeting Agenda and Approval of the July 18, 2012, Board of Education Meeting Minutes (Discussion/Action)
Lorenzo Garcia motioned to adopt the agenda and approve the minutes. Analee Maestas seconded the motion. Board members unanimously adopted the July 27, 2012, Special Board of Education meeting agenda and approved the July 18, 2012, Board of Education meeting minutes.
II. Public Forum
There were no participants in the public forum.
III. Special Issues
Mary Swift, Food & Nutritional Services director, requested that board members approve the bids so that the procurement process could begin to start preparing for the beginning of Albuquerque Public Schools.
A. Consideration for Approval of Bid# 13-002PS-SL; Fresh Assorted Produce (Discussion/Action)
Kathy Korte motioned for approval of the produce bid. Lorenzo Garcia seconded the motion. Except for Dr. David Peercy who was absent, board members, unanimously approved bid# 13-002PS-SL for fresh assorted produce.
B. Consideration for Approval of Bid# 13-003PS-SL; Milk and Dairy Products (Discussion/Action)
David Robbins motioned for approval of the dairy bid. Kathy Korte seconded the motion. Except for Dr. David Peercy who was absent, board members, unanimously approved bid# 13-003PS-SL for milk and dairy products.
IV. Superintendent’s Report
Superintendent Brooks was not able to attend this meeting but asked Brenda Yager to remind board members to prepare for the upcoming training sessions.
V. Board Reports
Lorenzo Garcia expressed gratitude for the summer graduations, Analee Maestas invited board members to the Latino Education Task Force press conference, and Paula Maes reminded everyone about the “Stuff the Bus” school supplies drive.
VI. Announcement of Upcoming Board Meetings
Paula Maes announced that the next Board of Education meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at 5:00 p.m., in the John Milne Community Board room and the next Special Board of Education meeting will be held on Friday, August 10, 2012, at 7:30 a.m., in the DeLayo Martin Community room.
