About Technology Leadership High School (Tech)
Technology Leadership High School is a free and public project-based learning 9 through 12 school in the Southeast Heights of Albuquerque that opened in August 2015. The Tech website is www.techabq.org.
Project Teacher/Advisor Responsibilities
- Build a relationship with co-teachers for teamwork, partnership, and critical thinking
- Collaborate with colleagues to design, plan, and execute curricula that is intellectually challenging, aligned to the Common Core State Standards, and that prepares students for success in college and the workplace
- Collaborate with colleagues, students, and families to appropriately diagnose problems and devise solutions
- Collaborate directly with Industry Partners to build, sustain, and execute high quality projects
- Commit to developing project-based-learning teaching practices that serve the diverse learning needs of students
- Commit to performing professional responsibilities during an elongated school day
- Communicate with students’ families on a regular basis to engage families in the lives of students
- Communicate with industry partners on a regular basis to engage outside professional adults in the lives of students
- Contribute actively to a physically and emotionally safe school environment for all students and strive to build a school culture of dynamic community and “mastery based” assessment.
- Contribute to professional development at Tech by sharing professional best practices with colleagues and consulting with colleagues on their professional growth
- Create projects through the lens of the technology fields
- Differentiate instructional methods for diverse learners
- Employ professional judgment and resourcefulness as an advocate and mentor to student advisees
- Fully integrate into the Tech community and complete additional school-wide responsibilities to build school culture
- Lead as an Advisor to the advisees on your caseload through academic counseling, team building and communication with advisees’ families
- Partner with industry professionals and community members to create meaningful and authentic learning experiences for students on and off campus
- Perform other duties assigned by Executive Director
- Provide inclusive instruction that accommodates students with learning disabilities and language acquisition needs
- Utilize performance assessments to evaluate student mastery of content and skills
Required Skills
- BA or BS required; appropriate graduate coursework preferred
- Achievement of NCLB “Highly Qualified” standard or
- Licensed or able to obtain a teaching license in New Mexico
- Ability to pass a background check
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting social/emotional needs of students
- Endorsements in multiple content areas
- TESOL endorsement
- Science and/or Math endorsement
- Modern and Classical language(s) endorsement
- Special Education License
