Siembra Leadership High School is currently seeking to fill their open PBL Teacher & Success Coach position.

Job Overview

Siembra Leadership High School is an APS charter going into its 8th year of operation for the 2023 - 2024 school year. We are intentionally positioned in the heart of Downtown Albuquerque with an industry focus on entrepreneurship through a social justice lens. We will grow in staff, students, programming, and facilities through 2029. As we increase the number of students, it is critical to ensure that we are offering the very best programming and have the educator professionals to meet the program's needs. We are looking for innovative, non-traditional, bold, risk-taking, authentic, passionate, dynamic, and inspiring folks who will demonstrate commitment to improving educational experiences for students and families through student support, community engagement, and project-based learning. Position Description:

In alignment with our values, the role of PBL teacher & Success Coach shows up in the following practices at Siembra:

  • Support young people in an individualized, relationship-based, student-centered model.
  • Design authentic, engaging, industry-driven, and community-responsive projects that align to learning objectives and content standards.
  • Collaborate in a co-teaching model to develop cross-disciplinary and entrepreneurial projects that culminate in celebrations of learning at the end of each semester.
  • Entrepreneurial thinking, including the ability to work in an innovative school design space, responsiveness, adaptability, experimentation, courageous initiative, and risk-taking.
  • Development of systems and participation in the co-creation of a startup school setting
  • The intentional practice of self-management and accountability.
  • Co-create equitable assessment systems to capture individual student learning and strengths.
  • Commitment to mastery-based learning and assessment anchored in skill development.
  • Provide inclusive instruction to accommodate all students and their individual assets.
  • Foster the development of students’ skillsets through real-world experiences in a collaborative and community-responsive model.
  • Leveraging community partners and community spaces beyond the four walls of the school to design authentic learning experiences.
  • Daily practice facilitates the growth of a physically and emotionally safe school culture.
  • Lead a Success Project caseload of students through their high school experience.
  • Strengths-based family and community engagement.
  • Participation and facilitation of ongoing professional development training sessions.
  • Commitment to guiding young people through their own understanding of social justice.
  • Operate projects that are open to visitors and community partners who wish to learn about/experience the school model.
  • Ability to acknowledge and address personal biases to co-create, with students, an authentic space for learning through experiences where education is an act of social justice.
  • Expanding students' understanding of entrepreneurship as a vehicle for larger community impact as an outlet for social change
  • Other essential duties necessary in an innovative start-up school in a growth phase.

Required Skills

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • New Mexico secondary teaching license
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Ability to professionalize loving young people
  • Ability to make student-centered decisions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting the social and emotional needs of students
  • Special Education License preferred
  • Math endorsement preferred
  • TESOL endorsement preferred
  • Bilingual/bicultural
  • Endorsements in multiple content areas

Salary, Benefits & other contract details:
Starting Salaries
Level I - $58,300
Level II - $69,961
Level III - $81,621

  • Licensure renewal is paid for by the institution
  • Tuition reimbursement for higher education degrees
  • All testing fees for adding additional teaching endorsements and dual enrollment accreditation are paid for by the institution
  • Hard to staff stipend for Special Education & Math endorsements
  • 191 contract day
