Effectively and efficiently performs the financial functions of the charter school including all financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, planning, personnel record keeping, and insurance administration. Interfaces with both the State of New Mexico Public Education Department and Albuquerque Public Schools with regard to the organization’s financial affairs. Position requires knowledge of and adherence to State of New Mexico Procurement Code (13-1-1 et seq., NMSA, 1978), Title 6, Primary and Secondary Education of the New Mexico Administrative Code (NMAC), New Mexico Public School Statutes (22-1-1 et seq., NMSA, 1978), New Mexico State Auditor Rule (2.2.2 et. seq. NMAC), and Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (2 CFR Part 200).
Required Skills
Typically requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration with the ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of fund accounting practices, techniques, and principles. Strong emphasis on finance, operations, and information management including the ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral form. Must be proficient with Windows-based computer applications, APTAFund or similar fund accounting software, and Microsoft Office spreadsheet and word processing programs. Position requires New Mexico Public Education Department licensure pursuant to 6.63.12 NMAC. Typically requires a minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in the field of accounting with supervisory experience. Preferred qualifications include relevant educational or governmental entity experience, Level II Professional School Business Official licensure, and Chief Procurement Officer certification.
