Project-based Learning Teacher/Advisor

Health Leadership High School is a charter school designed to equip high school students interested in the health sector to become leaders in developing healthier communities. We are looking for committed instructors who are interested in teaching young learners through project-based learning to leverage community engagement and student support in learning. Health Leadership High School Mission Statement

The mission of Health Leadership High School is to equip students who are interested in health with the skills they need to become leaders in developing healthier communities. Through experiential and project-based learning, our students develop as deep and complex thinkers to have a broad understanding of the determinants of improving healthier communities. Our mission is to take a holistic approach in supporting youth to have successful careers by caring for their intellectual, physical and emotional well-being as students.

Position Description

  • Instructional leadership and commitment to co-designing an applied curriculum that aligns with the vision and mission to prepare students for college, apprenticeship, and/or entry into the healthcare workforce by graduation.
  • Embracing a growth mindset; honest reflection, ongoing feedback, assessment of work and a willingness to be flexible in change and taking risks toward innovative outcomes.
  • Support in adhering to the community wellness lens to improve education, resources and opportunities that exist in real time within our community
  • Commitment to authentic relationships with students, staff and families as the foundation of learning.
  • Collaborate with co-teachers to provide inclusive instruction to accommodate students with IEPs, language acquisition needs, and attention to the cultural linguistic framework of the school
  • Dedication to a “mastery based” assessment model that focuses on engaging youth to develop skills and deeper learning beyond traditional methods of instruction that culminates into exhibition presentations led by students with community partners
  • Facilitates the growth of an emotionally and physically safe school culture through daily projects, activities and advisory work.
  • Lead a daily advisory class and oversee an advisory caseload through their Four-year high school experience.
  • Participate in weekly professional development (PD) training and lead PD training in areas of expertise and knowledge.
  • Design a classroom structure and setting that is open to community partners and visitors
  • Commitment to other essential duties as necessary in attending to a small school environment

Required Skills

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • New Mexico secondary teaching license
  • Ability to pass a background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting social /emotional needs of students
  • Endorsements in multiple content areas
  • Science and/or Math endorsement
  • Modern and Classical language(s) endorsement
  • Special Education License

  • Starting Salaries:
    • Level I - $58,5247
    • Level II - $68,847
    • Level III - $79,447
  • Tuition reimbursement for higher education degrees
