This is a growth opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join the leadership team at Christine Duncan Heritage Academy, a public charter school authorized by the Albuquerque Public Schools. CDHA offers high standards of excellence as it prepares New Mexico’s bilingual and talented students to compete internationally. CDHA is currently accredited by COGNIA.

As the business manager, you will utilize your accounting, analytical and business management skills to support the mission of Christine Duncan Heritage Academy.

Required Skills

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business or related field (at least 24 credits in Accounting or Business coursework).
  • Current New Mexico School Business Official License
  • Must be proficient in business software such as SchoolAbility or AptaFund
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and work effectively with high profile Governing Council Members.
  • Must be able to learn appropriate software and to produce accurate financial reports.
  • Knowledge of Grants and Federal Programs
  • Must live within 20-minute driving time from CDHA or be willing to relocate.
  • Minimum 5 years with accounting experience.

Job Description

  • Responsible for all financial operations, including school budget, school calendar, payroll, Accounts Payable, purchasing, capital requests, cash, long range planning and annual audits.
  • Responsible for non-academic support services such as facilities, lunch program and safety.
  • Supervises business office staff and transactions.
  • Handles financial compliance issues and reporting to the New Mexico Public Education Department.
  • Oversee construction projects, as needed.
  • Manages the financial affairs of both the Charter School and the Non-Profit Foundation
  • Focus on Financial Corrective Action Plan goals and objectives, be the point of contact and guide implementation of the plan, to include the NMDASH implementation.
  • Provide school-based leadership for the improvement of best financial practices
  • Facilitate teacher learning.
  • Participate as a member of the school’s leadership team.
  • Function as learners and leaders of professional learning communities at the school and at state level.
  • Provide guidance to school personnel on local, state, federal regulations as it pertains to financial transactions.
  • Attend required trainings

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience

  • Certified Procurement Officer (C.P.O)
  • Proficiency in Spanish
  • Experience in Dual Language Education Programs
  • Experience in working with NMDASH
  • Experience with MOE for Title I and Special Education
  • Experience with Federal Programs
  • Understanding Charter Schools
  • Demonstrate knowledge of technology; word processing, database and spreadsheet software including Excel
  • Interpersonal skills with diverse populations.
  • Highly qualified in math, reading and writing
