Student Artists

Several APS students were recognized for contributing artwork to Board of Education winter cards.

Each year the Board of Education and superintendent sends a winter greeting card to the 88 other school districts in New Mexico, elected officials, APS principals, business leaders, and others.  This year the Board of Education is also sending a thank you card to a smaller group as well.  Artwork for these cards is chosen from APS Fine Arts student art shows.

Three pieces of artwork from elementary artists were chosen for the 2020 winter greeting card.  Sienna Sorrel was in kindergarten when her artwork of two birds was created.  Cohen Murphy was in kindergarten when he created his polar bear artwork.  Priscila Beltran-Salcido was in fourth grade when her artwork with the sunset sky was created.  The winter greeting card will include a quote by Robert Bault, “Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things."

One piece of high school artwork was chosen for the thank you card.  Anna Bononcini, a sophomore, created the artwork of a winter scene aptly titled "Un dia Nevado en Nueva Mexico,” “A Snowy Day in New Mexico.”   The thank you card includes a quote by G.K. Chesterton, “I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought, and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.”

Thank you Sienna, Cohen, Priscila, and Anna, for the gift of creativity you so graciously shared.
