S.Y. Jackson Elementary School

S.Y. Jackson Elementary School was recognized as a U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon School.

The U.S. Department of Education recently recognized S.Y. Jackson Elementary School as an Exemplary High Performing School.  This National Blue Ribbon Award was only given to 367 schools from 47 states plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Department of Defense. The coveted award affirms the hard work of educators, families, and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content.  S.Y. Jackson, located in APS Zone 4 in the Northeast Heights, has received a letter grade of "A" by the New Mexico Public Education Department since the letter grade system was established.  The school has very involved parents who volunteer on a regular basis around the school.  Parent-Teacher conferences have an attendance rate of 99 percent.  Next year will be the 50th anniversary of the school and Principal Vermillion’s 20th year as principal.  Congratulations to the S.Y. Jackson staff, students, and community!
