Roadrunner Food Bank

Roadrunner Food Bank was recognized as a community partner that provided necessary support to APS students, families and communities who face food insecurity.

APS believes in supporting the whole child, family and community, and values these partnerships that help make that possible. Roadrunner Food Bank has been serving the Albuquerque community since 1979, and they have been partnering directly with APS for many of those years. Innumerable APS families have benefited from this partnership through food pantries on school campuses or “the Backpack Program.” During the last school year, Roadrunner not only continued to support  students and families during the pandemic, they actually increased services. The total amount of pounds and meals distributed August 1, 2020 through April 28, 2021 was 1,940,588 pounds, or 1,617,157 meals. That is a 97 percent increase from the previous year for the same timeframe!  Roadrunner currently provides 38 APS schools with mobile food pantries, some of which continue in the summer. Roadrunner has offered to grow the program in the upcoming school year.  Thank you, Roadrunner Food Bank, for your work to support APS students, families, and communities.
