Racial Equity and Social Justice Work Honored

Dina Raheem was recognized for her racial equity and social justice work in the community

Ms. Raheem, the Arabic refugee case manager in APS Refugee and Newcomer Supports participated in a Community Conversation digital panel in May focused on Community Stories: Immigrant & Refugee Justice. Various community organizations discussed racial equity and social justice topics from their perspective relating to COVID-19.  Ms. Raheem is a refugee from Iraq and has a Bachelor of Science in Materials Engineering.  As refugee case manager, she serves as a bridge between students, parents, and school staff helping to explain refugee culture and experiences and helping students to learn the beauty of the new culture and how to benefit from both cultures in order to have a successful academic career.  Congratulations, Ms. Raheem!
