Interns and Department Hosts

Nine interns and their APS Department hosts were recognized.

During the summer of 2021, Bernalillo County was approved for a financial award from the New Mexico Public Education Department to administer a summer internship program for youth ages 16-18 interested in exposure to a variety of professions from diverse employers and organizations throughout Bernalillo County.  Five APS departments hosted interns.

  • APS Operations hosted two interns, Carldon Pascual and Jasmine Tognoni, and Dr. Gabriella Blakey coordinated their work.
  • APS Food and Nutrition hosted two interns, Izaiyah John, and Gloria Kozeliski and Steve Carleton coordinated their work.
  • APS District Imaging and Archive Center hosted two interns, Morgan Fisher, and Veronica Trujillo and Mary Gandert coordinated their work.
  • APS Counseling and School Climate hosted one intern, Natalie Puebla, and Layla Dehaiman and Vicki Price coordinated her work.
  • APS Board Services hosted two interns, Yusra Dean and Zion Dumont, and Brenda Yager coordinated their work.

Interns were provided real‐world experiences that helped to expand their application of academic, technical, and employability skills in a work setting.  Thank you to the interns and the departments for participating in this exceptional experience.
