Educators of the Year

Loretta Gallegos- Vasquez of Albuquerque High School and Jessica Santistevan-Martinez of Atrisco Heritage Academy High School were recently named Educators of the Year by the Hispano Chamber of Commerce.

The Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce focuses on improving economic development opportunities and education in Albuquerque and throughout the state of New Mexico.  They are the largest Hispanic chamber in the country, and the largest chamber of commerce in New Mexico.  Ms. Gallegos-Vasquez has been a classroom teacher in APS for 30 years.  During those years, she has taught Special Education and Dual Enrollment courses through CNM.  Loretta was also the Albuquerque High School Bulldoggies dance team coach for 22 years.  Mrs. Santistevan-Martinez has been a classroom teacher with APS for 19 years.  She currently serves as the Student Council advisor and activities director at Atrisco Heritage Academy High School.  In that role she oversees 45 extra-curricular clubs and student organizations and all the student-hosted school social events.  Congratulations, Ms. Gallegos-Vasquez and Ms. Santistevan-Martinez!
