Bob Murphy

Mr. Murphy was recognized for his services to Albuquerque Public Schools and the community.

Mr. Murphy is an Albuquerque native.  He was president and CEO of Sandia Peak Tram and Ski Companies for many years, and President of Sandia Properties Limited Company until July of 2007.  Mr. Murphy has a history of community involvement including being a chairman of Albuquerque Economic Development, and taking key roles with United Way, National Association for Industrial and Office Parks, and the Albuquerque Convention and Visitors Bureau.  He was inducted into UNM’s Anderson School’s Hall of Fame in 1997 and the Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame in 2007.  Bob received the 2018 ULI Lifetime Ethics in Business Award, and the AED 505 Lifetime Leadership Award in 2019.  Bob plans to retire from his role as executive director of the Economic Forum at the end of 2021, a position he has held since 2007.

Bob has been a longtime friend and supporter of APS and public education.  He has been instrumental in setting up and organizing community and business support of the superintendent and feedback loops for business leaders through the Superintendent's Business Advisory Council.  He has provided sage advice and insight on the Community Capital Advisory Commission to improve internal capital and construction processes.  He has played an active role in support of bond elections, including meeting with the Journal's editorial board.  Thank you, Bob, for all the ways you support Albuquerque Public Schools and the Albuquerque Community!
