  • The Admiral wanted to know more about how the health needs of LGBTQI+ New Mexicans are being met and what her department can do to be helpful.
  • They also discussed the experiences of trans youth, what type of medical, psychological, and behavioral health needs and whether they’re being adequately met, and how federal support might improve health outcomes.
  • Insights on community safety concerns, the ability to access needed services without discrimination, the availability of supportive medical professionals, gaps in programmatic funding, and the state of HIV care were also topics of concern.
  • The organizations represented included Albuquerque Public Schools, The City of ABQ Office of Equity and Inclusion, UNM Deseo Clinic, Casa Q, Equality New Mexico, Transgender Resource Center of New Mexico, Casa de Salud, and Common Bond New Mexico.
  • It is always an honor when APS is asked to sit at the table for federal-level conversations.
