“Showing My Eyes to the World” Participants

Gina Rasinski, Denise Rudd, Perry Heimer, Josh Garcia, Previn Hudetz, Haiden Gould, Luke McDonald, Vy Nguyen, and Kylan Yazzie were recognized for their participation in New Mexico PBS Colores! production “Showing My Eyes to the World.”

Recently New Mexico PBS highlighted the work of APS student photographers. The New Mexico PBS team worked with Gina Rasinski, Denise Rudd and Perry Heimer from the APS Fine Arts Department to share the Focus on Youth exhibition celebrating student photographers. The celebration was shown as a segment of Colores! and was titled “Showing My Eyes to the World.” Josh Garcia, teacher at Del Norte and Previn Hudetz a teacher at Manzano were interviewed for the story.

Also interviewed were several students who took time out of their busy schedules to share their thoughts about photography.  Haiden Gould spoke of photography as a nostalgic memory that helps her feel anything can be art and anything is possible. Luke McDonald spoke of photography as art that tells the story of a moment you will never get back.  He also shared that photography helps him learn more about himself and those around him. Vy Nguyen spoke of photography as a way to capture a daily moment of life and that it helps her appreciate life and want to see more.  Kylan Yazzie spoke of photography as a way to show his point of view to others and as a way of showing his eyes to the world.

Thank you Gina, Denise, Perry, Josh, Previn, Haiden, Luke, Vy and Kylan, for showing your eyes to the world!
