In her final weekly message of the 2024-2025 school year, Superintendent Blakey thanks staff for their hard work and challenges them to get to know one another on a personal level.
We made it to the finish line!
Another school year is in the books, and I want to thank each and every one of you for your hard work this year. I’ve always felt the end of the school year is a good time to take stock of what worked and what didn’t and to begin thinking of ways to improve for the upcoming year.
It’s also a good time to stop and take a breath.
To all of our employees who work at schools, I hope you have an amazing summer and that you come back in the fall rejuvenated and ready to tackle another year. To all of our other employees, I hope you are also able to take some time off to recharge.
For those of you who are retiring, I thank you for your many years of service and for the difference you made in our students’ lives. I hope your retirement is everything you want it to be.
Since it’s the end of the school year, I’m going to keep this week’s message short in favor of sharing a little about myself. Shortly after becoming superintendent, I did a fun interview where I was asked about my likes and dislikes, and here it is.
I hope you watch it and that it inspires you to strike up a conversation with a colleague you’d like to get to know a little better.
Building these connections is good for us as human beings. It also improves teamwork, and, I believe, makes us better teachers, administrators and colleagues.
That’s it for now. Enjoy your summer!
Oh, and don’t forget to buy your tickets for the New Mexico United Schools Out Night Celebration on June 7. It’s going to be a fun event, and I hope to see you all there.
