Come Rain or Shine, Enjoy Spring Break!

Supt. Elder writes about a well-earned spring break for staff and students.

According to the Weather Channel app, Albuquerque’s weather over the next week or so will be a mix of sunshine and clouds, wind and rain, and temperatures ranging from the 30s to the 70s.

Seems about right for spring break in New Mexico.

Whether donning sweaters or shedding jackets, the next week will offer Albuquerque Public Schools students and staff a well-earned respite. Even for those of us working during the break, the pace will likely slow, giving us a chance to catch our breath before we start the final lap of the school year.

I don’t have to tell you how especially challenging the first eight months of this most unusual school year have been, not to mention the months leading up to it.

I don’t have to remind you of all the adjustments we had to make, the information we had to process, the new routines we had to adopt.

No wonder so many of us are exhausted, both mentally and physically, and ready for a break, as I’m sure our students are.

So take some time to enjoy the sunshine. Or the rain. Or the cloudy day. No matter the March weather, I hope you get the rest you deserve so that you can come back refreshed and ready to end the school year with a bang.

And please know how much you are appreciated and how much I look forward to working alongside you in the final weeks of the 2021-2022 school year.
