Johanna oversees several areas at APS, including:

- Policy Analysis and Government Affairs
- Charter Schools
- Graphics Enterprise Service
Biography:
Johanna earned her Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from New Mexico State University. She also holds a Bachelor’s in Education from the College of Santa Fe, and a Bachelor’s in Journalism and Economics from the University of New Mexico.
Johanna has served in various roles at Albuquerque Public Schools. Prior to becoming Chief of Staff, she served as Executive Director of Board Services. She has also served as the district’s Communications Director, Marketing Manager/Communications Specialist, and teacher. Her journalism background includes a nine-year stint as a reporter for the Albuquerque Journal.
She is a member of the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Albuquerque Class of 2013, served on United Blood Services Leadership Council, was Publicist/Historian for ALAS de Nuevo Mexico–the state affiliate of the national Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents, was a steering committee member for the 57th annual fall conference of the Council of the Great City Schools, and is a member of the National School Public Relations Association. Johanna has served on various APS committees, including calendar, budget, and graduation.
