Biography
Antonio Gonzales graduated with distinction from the University of New Mexico with his doctorate in teacher education, educational leadership, and policy. He also holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees from UNM.
Antonio is a career educator with experience spanning teaching, school leadership, and Cabinet-level roles. Prior to becoming Deputy Superintendent for Leadership and Learning, he served as Chief Academic Officer, Associate Superintendent, and Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources.
In 2022, Antonio was named Administrator of the Year by the New Mexico Association of Bilingual Education. He was also named Administrator of the Year in 2015 by the New Mexico association of Student Councils. He is active in several organizations, including the American Association of Teaching and Curriculum, the Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents, the National Association of Secondary School Principals, and the School Superintendents Association.
