Supplemental Educational Services provides free tutoring for eligible APS students through a Title I Grant. Students who are on the free lunch program and attending a Title I school that is in need of improvement, S2, CA, R1 or R2 are eligible (view the 2010-2011 NCLB designations). Students are prioritized by highest academic need district wide. Tutoring slots are limited and not all students who apply will be accepted into the program.
The SES tutoring program allows families to select from a large variety of tutoring options at their qualifying school site.
Your child must be on the free lunch program in order to qualify. Students are prioritized by most academic in need, district wide.
SES is designed to help students close the academic achievement gap and does not provide homework help as part of the tutoring service.
How to Enroll
Our program generally runs from October –March each year. Each year different schools are eligible for our program. If your child’s school is eligible for our program information will be advertised at the school site. Additional information will also be found on the Title I website. Your child must be enrolled in the free lunch program at their school. Enrollment forms and informational packets can be obtained from an employee at the school. Each school has a designated person who is in charge of the SES program.
The federally funded program is designed to serve students who are in most academic need district wide. Although your child may be eligible, that will not guarantee them a tutoring spot. Our funds will only service approximately 10% of eligible students.
