Summer will be here before you know it, ushering in weeks of free time for students to explore and advance on their own or in classroom settings. APS offers several programs including:

These programs offer a variety of rich academic opportunities as well as fun social alternatives to what can sometimes be the lazy days of summer.

If your child will be attending one of the schools offering these programs, we urge you to consider signing up.

These programs are FREE and the possibilities are endless.  The K3+ program is open to all currently enrolled students, “transferred in” students for the SY15-16 school year or for those families who move into the area and show proof of residency.   K3+ program students actually start their 2015-2016 school year in June and continue together through the fall, winter and spring instead of August as traditional schools.

Dates for Summer Elementary Programs

Schools on an alternative calendar: June 8-July 14

Schools on a traditional calendar: June 15-July 21

All schools will be closed July 4-5 for the Independence Holiday.

Where Will the Summer Programs be Held?

Our summer programs will be held at 39 sites throughout the district. Check to see where your school will hold it's summer program.

Download the Letter of Intent:

How Do I Enroll My Child?

Parents interested in enrolling their children in summer programs should talk to their child's teacher. A letter of intent will need to be submitted for the program.

Is there a deadline to register?
Yes, the registration deadline is May 25, 2016, the last official school day.

What if my child's school doesn't offer a summer program?
If your child attends a non-APS Title I school, you might want to contact UNM Continuing Education 505-277-0077
and see about their youth camps and classes.  There is a Mayoral initiative called Launch to Learn: Summer Learning Passport 2016. Call 505-247-3671 to learn more about this program for all school aged students.  In addition, pick up a copy of NM Kids magazine or call 505-7972708, or on your smartphone Google the names above to go directly to their websites.

K-3+ Schools

These schools will have the K3+ program for their incoming Kindergarten – 3rd graders only.  The  K3+ program is open to all currently enrolled students, “transferred in” students for the SY16-17 school year or for those families who move into the area and show proof of residency.   K3+ program students actually start their 2016-2017 school year in June and continue together through the fall, winter and spring instead of August as traditional schools.
