Tom Graham, Principal, Griegos ES

— filed under:

April 12, 2012

Tom Graham, the principal at Griegos Elementary, will retire at the end of this school year. He has been an outstanding principal for 10 years. During his time at Griegos, the school has received several distinguished awards including the Blue Ribbon award in 2011.

Before becoming a principal, Graham taught fourth grade at Valle Vista Elementary for three years. He did his administration internship at Alameda Elementary.

Before going into education he served in the U.S. Marine Corps as an aviator, flying the A-4 Skyhawk.

In his spare time, Graham enjoys astronomy and started an astronomy club at Griegos. The club sponsors an astronomy night each year when the Astronomical Society brings huge telescopes to the school as well as many hands-on items for the students to enjoy.

Graham also pushed to have the landscaping at Griegos improved. It now features beautiful flower gardens, an outdoor classroom and he is currently working on a sundial.

Graham will truly be missed by the staff and students. The students will especially miss all the times he spends at recess passing a football, giving a hug or high five, telling stories and rubbing it in when the Broncos win.

Though he will be missed, the staff and students at Griegos wish him the best with his new adventures.  They will be thinking of him and his wife as they are cruising to some exotic place.

There will be an assembly honoring Graham on May 4 and a celebration with his staff and family at the end of the year.
