Retirements for the Week of May 17, 2010

Julie McVay, Georgia O'Keeffe kindergarten teacher, is retiring after 40 years of teaching in APS. A party will be held in her honor in the courtyard of Eldorado High (map) from 2-4 p.m. June 5. Please bring a snack and drink to share.

Mary Schluter, the counselor at Chamiza Elementary, is retiring this year.

Dave Jurney, a teacher at the Juvenile Detention Center, will be retiring on May 29. The staff at the Juvenile Detention Center would like to express their appreciation and to and let him know he will be missed greatly.

Please join the staff at Osuna Elementary (map) for the retirement celebration of Ruby Donegan and Marsha Shishman.

  • Ruby's celebration will be held 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, in the school library.
  • Marsha's celebration will be held from 8-8:45 a.m. Friday, May 21, in the school library.

Kennedy Middle School business technology and language arts teacher Linda S. Vigil is retiring after 33 years of teaching in New Mexico. Twenty two of those years were spent at Kennedy.

Linda Hansteen-Pino will be retiring after 29 years of dedication to teaching, learning and building the best in APS. Her retirement celebration will be from 5-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, at Elena Gallegos Picnic Area (map).

Sheila Towle, a first grade teacher at Eubank Elementary, is retiring.

Jan Romontio of Apache Elementary (map) is retiring. She has been in the educational system for 32 years and will be greatly missed. Her retirement party will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, in Apache’s Library.
