Patty Schoonover Jones, school nurse

After 38 years with APS, School Nurse Patty Schoonover Jones is retiring. Her decision was made after Laura Case called her an “institution” in the district.

Patty started her school nursing career in 1976 at Mitchell, Apache and Eubank elementary schools. She was also the nurse at Hubert Humphrey, Jefferson (loved her four years there), Alvarado and Whittier.

In 1989 Patty was the first nurse at Georgia O’Keeffe ES. She had the time of her life opening up that school with the best staff ever! Many of those teachers are still dear friends.

Since 1996 Patty has been the nurse at Cleveland MS. The last 18 years have gone by in a blink of an eye and have been Patty’s favorite age group to work with. Not a day at Cleveland goes by without laughter and fun. She will especially miss the most amazing health assistant ever...Steve Callaway.

Patty will miss the fun of working with the other amazing school nurses. She is proud to be associated with such a wonderful group of smart and hardworking nurses.

Now off to the tennis courts she goes.
