Karen Apodaca, Volcano Vista HS bookkeeper

Karen Apodaca, the bookkeeper at Volcano Vista High, is retiring after 31 years in education. Karen has worked as a receptionist, curriculum secretary, benefits liaison, principal's secretary, cluster secretary, and elementary and high school bookkeeper.

She has worked for APS Risk Management, Rio Grande HS, Insurance and Benefits, Marie Hughes ES, Sierra Vista ES, Chamiza ES, the Cibola Cluster Team and Volcano Vista HS.

Karen plans to fill her free time by relaxing, doing hobbies, spending time with family and enjoying being retired.

"We will miss Karen’s experience and knowledge; she keeps us in line and out of trouble in managing our books," said VVHS Principal Valerie Atencio. "She has been at VVHS for the past four years, after many years of experience across the district. We wish Karen the best in retirement; we expect to hear often about her newest project because we know she’ll be staying busy."
